Paloma Rodriguez Prendes at Galería Corona

by Robin Bond

Any spontaneous action involves work, as we can never be sure of the responses and reactions to it, yet without spontaneity life becomes dull and chaotic and creativity almost impossible.

Paloma Rodriguez Prendes begins her work with big spontaneous gestures, relying on her energy and vitality to suggest to her how to proceed, how to find order out of this vitality and, maybe, images arising out of this energetic attack. in short, she unifies the spontaneous with contemplation, energy with refinement and deliberation, action with the mystery of discovery, chance with composition.

Force without subtlety and refinement easily becomes brutal; refinement and subtlety without force often becomes decadent. The combination of the forceful with sensuous subtlety produces dynamic quality. She seems to possess an innate sense of this dynamic unity, and the intensity of perception and expression it requires. her development has been, so far, remarkable.

When art and life become as one, which i believe they do for Paloma, the creative spirit never comes to an end. Art, in this sense, becomes the constant transformation of life. Welcome to one of its young champions!
